Prof. Allan Manning

Director

Allan Manning is a non-practising Director of, and Senior Consultant to, LMI Legal.

 

 

Allan brings a rare combination of being one of the most academically qualified insurance experts in the country with over 40 years of practical experience in drafting and interpreting insurance policies, as well as quantifying major and complex insurance and commercial losses, some in excess of $1 billion.

Prof. Manning holds the post of Adjunct Professor at Victoria University, Melbourne, in their College of Law and Justice. He is the author of nine books on insurance, including “Business Interruption Insurance & Claims: A Practical Guide”; the 3-volume “Understanding the ISR Policy”; “Manning’s Six Principles of General Insurance” with his latest, “It may happen to Me! – The essential guide to general insurance”.

 

He has also lectured at RMIT, Melbourne, and Victoria Universities and is a regular speaker at conferences. He has delivered over 1,000 seminars in more than a dozen countries on a range of insurance and legal subjects. 

 

Allan earned a Commerce Degree from the University of Queensland; an MBA and Doctorate from Victoria University, Melbourne. He is a Fellow CPA; a Chartered Loss Adjuster in Australasia and the United Kingdom; a Chartered Insurance Practitioner; and is a European Loss Adjusting Expert. He is also a Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. 

Allan was awarded the Life Time Achievement Award at the 2012 Insurance Industry Awards and is rated one of the 20 most influential people in insurance today by InsuranceNews [the magazine].
